Books – The First Summer Essential on My List

I just would not miss this one for anything especially after reading “The Beach Bum Booklist – Our 5 Favorite Reads For Summer 2019” by Rachael McGuire of All That Glitters.
If you read novels a lot, why don’t you get some great reads to chill on the beach with, this Summer?
Two out of the five books in Rachael’s post are airing on HBO, and I am currently watching one of them.
So check them out and thank me later. *wink*
Fruity Exfoliating Scrubs is Number Two On My Summer Essentials List

There’s no way I would write this post without adding exfoliating scrubs. You can say I am a scrubaholic. Haha!
While the summer heat makes my skin feel like there’s another film of skin on it; regular exfoliation has been very beneficial.
And because it is Summer, exfoliating your skin with fruit scrubs is only right.
See DIY Fruit Scrubs For Smoother Skin Plus Smoothies for some ideas.

But if you are not into DIY body scrubs, then drugstore brands are just fine.
Third On The List Is Exfoliating Gloves

If you are not using exfoliating gloves, I believe this is the best time to start using them.
Normally, heat causes our skin to secrete more oils and sweat, therefore attracting dirt.
Washing your skin daily with exfoliating gloves and soap cleanses it of excess oil and dirt.
And even when you don’t exfoliate with scrubs, just bathing with your exfoliating gloves would still buff off dead skin cells.
Wondering why I always mention exfoliating gloves in most of my DIY skincare posts?
The reason is that they clean my skin way better than washcloths, because of the slightly rough material.
And they don’t collect dirt like washcloths, they are budget-friendly and lasts for months.
You know I won’t find something this good and not share it with you, my friends.
Try them and let me know your experience.

Sunscreen Is Fourth On My Summer Essentials List

The way the sun is going, you can’t afford to get your skin burnt. So sunscreen should be your new bestie.
Sorry bestie.. you’ve been replaced.
But wait, I am not done yet.
Why is sunscreen even on this list? Everybody knows they need sunscreen, so why remind us again?
Yes, that’s true.
But not everybody knows that they can make their own sunscreen at home.
So if you fancy making sunscreen at home, see this natural homemade sunscreen recipe by Katie Wells of Wellness Mama.
Otherwise, limit your sun exposure so that you would use less sunscreen.
And this brings me to the last item on my summer essentials list.
A Sun Hat or An Umbrella

“A sun hat or an umbrella”, choose one Buayifa. lol
Whether you use a large poolside umbrella or carry a mini purse umbrella; just get some shade from the sun.
Using an umbrella under the sun is actually a great idea when you are not wearing sunscreen.
If you feel awkward walking about with an umbrella, then a wide brim beach hat would be awesome.
Sun hat is a trendy accessory to add to your Summer outfit.
Whatever you choose, just make sure you are comfortable.
That’s what matters.
Let’s Wrap Up!

So let’s go over everything in a scattered order. *tongue out*
Wake up in the morning
- Take a bath with your exfoliating gloves and soap
- Exfoliate your skin even more with a fruit sugar scrub
- Use your favorite sunscreen or not
- Going out? Dress up and accessorize with a sun hat or use a mini umbrella
- Relax with a great book, preferably one from Rachael’s list.
So there you have it.
