This homemade oatmeal coffee scrub is the breakfast your skin has been craving for a while now.

I call this a breakfast scrub because it contains 3 foods that are usually eaten in the morning.

I don’t know about you, but I love some oatmeal and coffee for breakfast.

That’s why I created this emollient body scrub to treat your skin to some good food.

Another thing I should mention is that this scrub does not contain any oils. And that’s because I want you to have the freedom to tweak the recipe as you like.

So during hot Summer days, you can mix this DIY oatmeal coffee scrub with water for non-oily skin exfoliation.

Or mix it with coconut oil during the Fall/Winter season for a rich moisturizing body exfoliation.

That’s what makes this scrub extra-special.

Now let’s get into it.

How To Make Homemade Oatmeal Coffee Sugar Scrub

  • Brown sugar 1/3 cup
  • Oatmeal 1/3 cup
  • Coffee grounds 1/3 cup

The measurement of your ingredients depends on the size of your glass jar. Mine was an 8ounce jar, hence the measurements.

But if you want to make a bigger batch, double or triple the ingredients. Just make sure it is in a ratio of 3:3:3.

  • Add one ingredient at a time if you want your scrub to cute look like mine.
  • Or mix all three ingredients and transfer into a wide mouth jar with an airtight lid.
  • The tight cover prevents moisture and keeps the scrub mixture fresh until you are ready to use it.

How to use your oatmeal body scrub

When you are ready to use your oatmeal coffee scrub, mix it with a little water to make a paste just before jumping in the shower.

That’s to give the ingredients time to soak up water and for the oats to produce milk.

After washing, apply the creamy paste to your body and exfoliate gently, and leave it on for several minutes.

Then rinse it off with lukewarm water, dry your body, and apply a light moisturizer.

This scrub is excellent for exfoliating and reducing the appearance of goosebumps skin.

Things to look out for with the homemade oatmeal coffee scrub

  • This is a very messy scrub, so be ready to clean your whole shower or tub after using it.
  • Do not mix the scrub with water, and store for more than 24hours because it won’t last. Mold may grow on it.
  • But this exfoliant can be mixed with coconut oil – stored in the fridge – and used later.

Great idea about keeping the coffee scrub dry and adding the water later when you actually use it! A great way to make it last longer in the jar so it doesn't spoil! If you layer it so it's pretty, how do you mix it when you're ready to use it?
